… and the leaves will be falling in earnest. The scent of woodsmoke wafts in the air as the nights become colder, and the heavy quilt is brought out to keep one warm. The ceramic mugs are brought back into use with the need for hot teas, cider, and cocoa. Pumpkin everything? In doses, sure! Mix it up with apples and pears flavored with cinnamon, raisins, and nuts. Bring out the long, epic books, and warm fleece blankets; a cushy seat under a bright light. Bring out the sturdy boots good for crunching through dead leaf piles, the bulky sweaters to stave off the chill, the cameras with which to capture the breathtaking shift in colors and the local farm market’s pumpkin picking fest.
Autumn is here. The birds will begin their migrations, and the squirrels are diligently stashing away anything that looks good.- this year, hickory nuts seem to reign as the favorite. Creatures large and small are eating and storing up fat while they can, while the late summer flowers drop their seeds with abandon.
Bring on the autumn!
